On finding rest.

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a while.

(Well, any post.)

But lately I just haven’t had the energy.

Career. Baby. Husband. House. Sometimes, even the blessings drain.

This summer, weddings and weekends are happening. Church on Sundays? Well, not so much.

And, I know. He’s the only one who can truly fill us up.

Fresh cups of coffee. Family cuddle sessions. Digital detoxes. Chats with mom.

All refresh. And yet, they’re not enough.

Only He is.

When the world steals your joy, your peace, your mind or your focus, crawl back and rest in your Daddy’s arms.

Matthew 11:28-30:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Or, if you like hearing things in new ways, here’s what my contemporary language Bible has to say about that:

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me–watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.

All that work? It’s done.
