(Almost) 23 months.

Willow Annistyn, when we picked your name, we thought Willow sounded sweet and Annistyn sounded sassy. While you’re certainly both, I’m happy we stuck with family tradition and kept on using your middle name. Sassy fits you, Miss Anni.

These days you’re all about singing, dancing, coloring, reading and trying new things. And, you do it with so much spunk and energy that I can’t help but be entertained. You keep us on our toes and make us smile constantly (even when you’re being naughty, which happens fairly often these days, it’s hard not to smirk at those playful blues).

You still love Elmo and puppies and trains. You could live on fruit snacks (or, “baby apples,” as you like to say) and cheese if we allowed it. You care deeply about your dollies and act like a little mommy, gently tucking them in and covering their cheeks with kisses.

You and daddy are the best of friends. You’ve inherited his fun-loving, quirky sense of humor, and it cannot be contained. This is a good thing, my dear. I love how much you love life.

You’re a mama’s girl, too. I’ve never seen a kid get so consumed in organizing toys or crayons. If daddy leaves his dirty socks on the floor, you’re right behind him putting them in the laundry basket. Order is in our genes, girl.

“How old are you?”

“Me two.” [Proudly holds up two fingers.]

This has been one of our conversations since summer. Soon, it will be true.

Annistyn, thank you for shining every day and lighting up our lives.

You captured her fun personality in these photos. She has brought so much joy into our lives. Being her Nana and Papa are the best jobs we’ve ever had!

She’s such a sweetie, someday I’ll meet her in person but feel like she’s part of our lives now. Adorable girl!
