Hello. I’m still here.
Even though I’m off work for a few more weeks, my days have been full. Between baby snuggles and chasing a three-year-old, dishes and laundry are my top hobbies right now. Just kidding (kind of).
In June, we welcomed sweet Scarlett Eisley into our family, making Annistyn a big sister and us a family of four.
Kelby is outnumbered. Poor guy has lots of shopping trips, pedicures and Starbucks dates on his future bank statements. He adores his girls and wouldn’t have it any other way.
I am loving getting to know Eisley’s unique personality. At just nine weeks old, she is full of expressions — from big cheesy grins to her daddy’s signature brow-scowl. It appears she also got his flaming red hair, which I am thrilled about.
Annistyn is smitten by her little sis. The last few days we’ve been practicing our upcoming morning routine (hello, 5 a.m. alarm). Honestly, I think it’s easier getting Annistyn ready with an audience. “Now show baby how you brush your teeth… now show her how you comb your hair…” Total motivation so far. Of course there are about a million factors (spit up, blow out, tantrum, etc.) that could throw off our mornings, but we’ll make it.
I’m (still) nursing, and it’s not nearly as challenging this time around. With working, it’s going to be a bit of a pain in the butt, and I don’t love the constant hunger or counting down the hours. But, it’s super healthy for babe and I, and I figure every nursing session is about $1 saved in formula. (Which is probably balanced with the number of fancy iced coffees I’ve consumed lately…)
Overall, life is good. Better than good.
I feel so blessed to raise two beautiful souls and have them call me mom.
It truly is the most important work I will ever do in my life.
