There’s a new man in my life. Meet Roberto:
Well, at least that’s what my husband calls him.
Roberto is my new, curvy maternity body pillow. And he is currently making my slumber so much more enjoyable.
I’m naturally a back sleeper. Think coffin-like: flat on my back, hands folded at chest, sleeping through absolutely anything, including train whistles and the occasional alarm beeper.
Unfortunately, my favorite slumber position just won’t work for the next six or so months. Back sleeping puts pressure on the vena cava, which can decrease blood supply to my heart and the baby. Scary! Now that there’s a new life quickly growing inside me, I’m forced to become a side-sleeper. And Roberto is helping to make that possible.
Unfortunately, Roberto tends to hog the bed. My hubby doesn’t care much for that. But, he realizes that a tired Angie makes for a cranky Angie and puts up with it.
Too bad Roberto can’t help me with the 4:30 a.m. potty breaks or required cracker-eating before exiting bed in the mornings…
